Larry Pogue describes himself as
an Abstract Expressionist, Found Object, Direct Metal,
Sculptor. After graduating from Kansas State College (in
1968) with his Master's Degree in Sculpture and
Printmaking, he taught art in college for 28 years.
"Many
times I don't know what I'm going to do until I do
it. I have the melody, but don't know all the words
to the song."
In 1997 Pogue took early
retirement from teaching to pursue his love of sculpture.
He completed his new unique gallery and studio in the
spring of 1998 to have a space to create and display his
new creations. Pogue welcomes visitors and will
explain his ideas and techniques of how he makes art.
"A
concept can be shaped in many different
configurations, sometimes I make as many as six
renditions." |
Pogue has many private collectors
who have collected his works for the past 30 years.
Corporate collectors include McDonnell Douglas,
Consolidated Aluminum, St. Johns Hospital, MO Governors
Society, General Motors, Milwaukee Museum International
Airport and Meremac Valley Bank annual Christmas gifts.
Pogue also completed work for the St. Louis Muny Opera.
"Art
comes from life experiences and letting ideas
gestate for several weeks makes the reality more
interesting."
"Sculpture
is not an illusion, but a reality that should have a
mystery to make people THINK."
"Sculpture
is Sculpture for Sculptors makes Sculpture true
Sculpture forever Sculpture my Sculpture is real Sculpture..." |
